Sharon Johnson's Yeast RollsThis is a featured page

(Sharon is originally from Jefferson County. I knew her when she lived outside of Lone Wolf. We shared many meals and recipes while our kids were young.)

1 pkg dry yeast
1/4 c sugar
1 t salt
1 1/2 T shortening
1 egg, beaten
4 c flour

Dissolve yeast and 1/2 t sugar in 1/4 c lulkewarm water in a large mixing bowl. Add remaining sugar, salt, shortening, egg and 1 c warm water and mix well. Stir in 2 c flour, then stir in remaining flour. Place in refrigerator until ready to use. Pinch off dough and shape into rolls. Place on greased baking sheet. Let rise 1 1/2 hours or until doubled in bulk.

Bake at 425 degrees for approximately 15 minutes. Makes 18 rolls
